Egg production during the Ramadhan fasting month and Eid al-Fitr festivities is estimated to reach 20,102 tons, while our requirement will reach 66,602 tons, so we are yet reeling under a shortage of 33,514 tons.
Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - The intake of eggs in West Java Province is expected to touch 56,602 tons during the 2019 fasting month of Ramadhan, West Java Provincial Food Security and Husbandry Office Chief Koesmayadi Tatang stated.

"The production of eggs during the Ramadhan fasting month and Eid al-Fitr festivities is estimated to touch 20,102 tons, while our requirement will touch 66,602 tons. Hence, we will fall short of 33,514 tons," Tatang remarked at a function called Jabar Punya Informasi, or West Java Has Information, in the yard of Sate Building (city hall) here, Thursday.

To deal with the inadequacy of eggs, Tatang remarked that his office will prioritize streamlining the commercial system for this commodity in cooperation with various sides, including the Bandung city administration.

Bandung, West Java Province's capital, has recorded the highest consumption of eggs, touching 120 tons daily, he pointed out.

"The demand for eggs in Bandung is the highest in West Java, owing to several dry cake makers doing business during the fasting month. Hence, the eggs are not solely for daily intake," he noted.

The West Java provincial administration will collaborate with the Bandung city administration and purebred egg production centers in Ciamis District to cater to the increasing demand for eggs in the fasting month, he remarked.

Dry cake and biscuit producers stepped up their production in the run-up to the fasting month, he added.
