MUI has asked operators of such nightlife venues as singing halls, karaoke sites , spa houses , sauna rooms, massage parlors and billiard clubs to shut down operations for Ramadha
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) has asked nightlife venues to close during the fasting month of Ramadhan.

"MUI has asked operators of such nightlife venues as singing halls, karaoke sites , spa houses , sauna rooms, massage parlors  and billiard clubs to shut down operations for Ramadhan," MUI's Vice Chairman Zainut Tauhid Saadi said here on Sunday.

Menwhile, owners of restaurants should manage their operation time.

Saadi has called on people to use the momentum of Ramadhan to end conflict, recrimination, defamation, and ridicule others. "Let us return ourselves into respectful persons because we are brothers."

MUI has also called on broadcasting institutions to adhere to the regulation of law on broadcasting and standard of ethics issued by the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI).

"MUI has called on TV stations during Ramadhan to avoid programs that contain violence, deviate sexual habit, supernatural and paranormal activities, and excessive jokes," he said.
