Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo performed Eid-al-Fitr prayers in front of Bayurini guesthouse in the vicinity of Presidential Palace in Bogor City, West Java, on Sunday morning.

The President donned a white long-sleeved shirt, a blue sarong and a black traditional cap (peci), while the First Lady wore Muslim prayer cloak (mukena). Both wore a mask to comply with health protocol during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Joining the prayers was the president's youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep who wore a white long-sleeved shirt, a batik sarong, a black traditional cap and a mask.

The Eid-al-Fitr prayers began at around 06.32 a.m. local time with chief of the Mosque Prosperous Council (DKM) of Baitussalam Mosque in the vicinity of the Bogor Presidential Palace Muhammadun acting as a priest (imam).

In a sermon, Muhammadun said Eid-al-Fitr is a momentum to abolish all sins as well as to change for the better.

"If before (the holy month of) Ramadhan we were hostile, insulted one another, and made many mistakes, after this Eid al-Fitr we must be committed to improving ourselves, maintaining harmony, forgiving one another, standing united, and forging relations," he said.

He said fellow Muslims are brothers so that they should do good for one another.
