Ahead of exodus, the intensity (of patrols) has been increased in the morning, afternoon, and eveningJakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Transportation Office has increased surveillance by launching daily patrols to monitor the flow of homecoming travelers ahead of the Eid Al-Fitr period.
"Ahead of exodus, the intensity (of patrols) has been increased in the morning, afternoon, and evening," head of Jakarta Road Transportation Yayat Sudrajat informed here on Tuesday.
As part of the daily patrol, his office has banned buses from picking up or dropping off passengers at terminals other than the seven that have been designated for serving Eid exodus travelers, he said.
He further said his office has mapped several points that are often used as unofficial terminals, such as the Pasar Rebo area in East Jakarta.
"The control is for the vehicles to enter the terminal based on the supervision card; the control is being carried out by the transportation officials," he added.
Earlier, head of the Jakarta Transportation Office, Syafrin Liputo, said that his team has prepared three additional terminals that will help anticipate a surge in passengers during the 2022 Eid exodus period.
The three terminals are Lebak Bulus Terminal, Grogol Terminal, and Muara Angke Terminal, Liputo informed.
Meanwhile, the Interprovincial Intercity Terminal (AKAP) will be assisted by four terminals that are mostly used in Jakarta, which are Pulo Gebang, Kampung Rambutan, Kalideres, and Tanjung Priok terminals, he added.
According to Liputo, the selection of the three terminals is aimed at accommodating travelers from the north.
"In the north, the relatively smaller Tanjung Priok Terminal is fully supported by Muara Angke and Grogol terminals," he said.
Meanwhile, based on a research center's survey in March 2022, the Ministry of Transportation has predicted that around 13 million Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) residents will participate in the Eid exodus this year.
Kalideres Terminal head Revi Zulkarnaen has advised prospective travelers to not take "shadow buses" that unofficially pick up passengers outside official terminals.
