"Right now, (the situation) is still normal without any surge in (the number of border-crossers) since the Badau border crossing checkpoint has not been opened like Entikong and Aruk (checkpoints),” chief of the Immigration Office, Ali Hanafi, said in Putussibau Kapuas Hulu on Monday.

In fact, the Badau border checkpoint has served Indonesians returning from Malaysia and Malaysians returning from Indonesia, but their number is limited, he said.
Only the Entikong and Aruk border crossing checkpoints have been in service. However, he refused to divulge when the Badau border crossing checkpoint will be opened.
To prepare for a surge in the number of Eid travelers, the immigration office is coordinating with the Indonesia-Malaysia border security task force for tightening unauthorized border crossing paths in the border area.

"We are coordinating with the border security task force in tightening supervision ahead of Eid-al-Fitr," he said.
He expressed the hope that the Badau border crossing checkpoint will soon be opened to supervise people traveling from and to Indonesia via the checkpoint.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Badau border cross checkpoint has only served a limited number of border-crossers.
