Jakarta (ANTARA) - At least 32,894 travelers arrived at stations in KAI's Jakarta Operational Area 1 on the day after Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijr, or Wednesday, according to state railway firm PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI).

Of the total passenger arrivals, at least 11,387 people arrived at Gambir Station, 14,101 at Pasar Senen Station, and the other 7,406 people at other stations, such as Jatinegara, Bekasi, Cikampek, and Jakarta Kota, according to data shared by the Jakarta Operational Area 1 public relations head, Eva Chairunisa.

ANTARA conversed with Betty and her roommate, who arrived in Jakarta through the Pasar Senen Station at around 8:20 a.m. local time. Betty departed from the Surabaya Gubeng Station, East Java, on Tuesday (May 3) evening.

Betty opted to return home early, as she had to continue her internship at one of the companies in Jakarta.

"(I will) go to college on May 12 but have to intern, so (I) had to return now," she remarked when met at the Pasar Senen Station.

As for the current return flow on the third day after Eid, a total of 36 trains at Gambir Station, with eight of them being additional trains, are readied for various routes, such as Yogyakarta, Solo, Kutoarjo, Purwokerto, Kebumen, Tegal, Semarang, Surabaya, Malang, Cirebon, and Bandung, Chairunisa confirmed.

The number of departing passengers from Gambir Station was recorded at 13,500, or 76 percent of the total seats available, or 17,600 seats.

Some 29 trains are operated at Pasar Senen Station, and three of them are additional trains. The number of passengers departing from this station was recorded at 18,100, or 86 percent of the total available seats of 21 thousand.

People looking to go home by train can still get tickets, Chairunisa stated.

Moreover, according to data from KAI's Jakarta Operational Area 1, tickets are still available for alternative dates that are still close to Eid, on May 5-7, 2022.

"For now, tickets on those dates (May 5-May 7, 2022) are still available, even though the number of bookings continued to increase," she remarked.
