This is in line with the direction from President Joko Widodo to make Indonesia as the world's halal products center by 2024, including Muslim fashion products
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Trade held the Ramadan Fashion Festival 2022 in-store promotion at Gandaria City Mall, Jakarta, on April 14-17, 2022, as part of series of promotions for the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2023.

Director General of National Export Development Didi Sumedi said that the ministry would focus on promoting and strengthening the ecosystem to develop the national Muslim fashion industry.

"This is in line with the direction from President Joko Widodo to make Indonesia as the world's halal products center by 2024, including Muslim fashion products," he said as quoted from an official broadcast on Sunday.

The event, held in collaboration with the Indonesia Fashion Chamber (IFC), the Indonesian Shopping Center Association (APPBI), Mustika Ratu and Gandaria City, presented talk shows and trunk shows of Indonesian Muslim fashion brands and was broadcasted on the Youtube channel of the Ministry of Trade.

The Muslim fashion brands presented include Khanaan, Kami, Raegitazoro, Tenun Gaya by Wignyo, L.tru, Najua Yanti, Deceusuzan, Irna La Perle, Reborn29 by Syukriah Rusydi and Sofie.

On that occasion, the ministry's Director of Utilization and Marketing of Domestic Products Ida Rustini noted that local wisdom and culture are assets for Muslim fashion designers to make products.

Aside from designers, other supporting professionals in the fashion industry also play an essential role, namely workers in the production sector such as screen printing workers, tailors and other supporting professionals throughout Indonesia.

"This should be utilized to make Indonesia a strong halal products ecosystem," she said.

Rustini further explained one of the ministry's efforts to promote Indonesia's Muslim fashion industry in the international market in 2022 is by holding the JMFW that will be held on October 20-22, 2022, at Indonesia Convention Exhibition, BSD, Tangerang, Banten.

"The Trade Ministry initiates this international standard event in collaboration with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), supported by the collaboration of stakeholders such as academics, designers, media, and all Indonesians," she expounded.

She added that Indonesia's Muslim fashion industry is ranked 5th as the largest market after Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Meanwhile, the main exporters of world Muslim fashion products are China, Turkey, India, United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh.

"That data has reflected Indonesia's big potential to become the world's Muslim fashion center," she remarked.
