Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-run train service provider PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operation Area (Daop) 1 Jakarta recorded that 651,427 passengers departed from Gambir and Pasar Senen stations during the period from April 22 to May 13, 2022.

It coincided with the 2022 El al-Fitr exodus period.

"During the period, Daop 1 Jakarta operated 1,383 trains, with an average of 63 trains per day," Head of the Public Relations Department of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Eva Chairunisa noted in a statement here on Sunday.

Chairunisa stated that currently, the Eid al-Fitr returning traffic was still quite high at the two stations.

Some 14,300 passengers and 9,600 passengers arrived at Pasar Senen Station and Gambir Station respectively on Sunday.

The official noted that during the Eid al-Fitr returning period on May 4-15, 2022, some 448,800 passengers had arrived at Daop 1 Jakarta.

However, she noted that the number of passengers departing from the operation area also increased on May 13-15, 2022, ahead of the national holiday of Vesak Day – which will be commemorated on May 16, 2022.

During the period, some 67 thousand passengers departed from Gambir Station and Pasar Senen Station.

Furthermore, PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta also reminds long-journey train (KAJJ) service customers to ensure readying their travel requirements, so that their trip will not get cancelled due to incomplete requirements.

Hence, to help customers in completing their travel requirements, the company provides COVID-19 rapid antigen test and vaccination at the stations.

PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta has conducted tests on 47 thousand prospective passengers and administered the vaccination to 5,200 recipients.

As the enterprise’s social responsibility, the vaccination program also serves the general community.

“So far, all train journeys have been running smoothly and safely since all the trains have met the safe travel requirements and been inspected at the departure station,” Chairunisa added.
