Under the police's discretion, Jasa Marga has decided to extend the contraflow traffic modification (for eastward-bound travel) from KM 47+000 of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road until KM 86+000 of the Cikopo-Palimanan toll road
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The contraflow traffic modification on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road has been extended to a portion of the eastward-bound lane of the Cikopo-Palimanan toll road, state-owned toll road operator Jasa Marga has confirmed. "Under the police's discretion, Jasa Marga has decided to extend the contraflow traffic modification (for eastward-bound travel) from KM 47+000 of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road until KM 86+000 of the Cikopo-Palimanan toll road," Jasamarga Transjawa Tollroad regional division's representative office 1 general manager Muhammad Taufik Akbar said in a written statement on Monday.

Earlier, the contraflow policy was implemented from KM 47+000 to KM 70+000 of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, with the Cikopo-Palimanan toll road section unaffected by the policy.

The traffic modification was implemented from 3:15 p.m. local time to relieve congestion of vehicles traveling eastward from Jakarta-Cikampek toll road to Cikopo-Palimanan toll road.

Besides the contraflow implementation, Jasa Marga, also under the police's discretion, has decided to close the 36.4-kilometer Mohamed bin Zayed Skyway conditionally from 12:10 p.m. local time.

Jasa Marga reminded exodus travelers to prepare for their travel properly. Travelers must check their vehicle's roadworthiness, ensure sufficient electronic card balance and fuel, and food supplies before traveling to avoid visiting rest areas that may be crowded.

Travelers must also maintain safe driving, obey traffic rules, and follow officers' instructions while traveling.

Earlier, National Police chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, had affirmed that the police will continue to evaluate the implementation of traffic engineering on toll roads to prevent traffic congestion during the Eid homecoming exodus.

Besides the contraflow policy, the police's Traffic Corps has also implemented other traffic engineering measures such as the odd-even traffic rule and a one-way traffic plan, which extends from KM 47 of Jakarta-Cikampek toll road to KM 414 of the Kalikangkung toll road in Semarang, Central Java.
